Does Your Coffee Machine Need a Service?

Most kitchen gadgets get used day in day out and we rarely, if ever, think of having them serviced. We tend to just carry on using them until they breakdown at which point we buy a new one.

This is a shame because most home appliances would last a lot longer if we serviced them regularly. When it comes to coffee makers this is certainly the case. If you spot issues with your coffee machine and get it serviced you can often prevent it from breaking down and carry on enjoying using it for many more years.

Here are the signs to look out for:

Strange taste

Often the first sign that your coffee machine may need servicing is that the coffee it makes tastes different. If you have not changed your blend of coffee or the water that you are using and you notice a change in the way your drinks taste consider getting your machine serviced, or at least cleaning it.

Slow to make coffee

If your coffee maker takes longer to make your drink than normal there is a chance it could need servicing. When a coffee machine slows down it is normally because limescale is building up inside. Having it serviced will remove any build up and get your drinks maker working at full speed again.

Small flecks appearing in the filter

When calcium or limescale builds up in the coffee machines, some of it can flake off and end up appearing in your coffee filter. This does not happen often, but it is not unheard of.
